Samsung owners receive free phone upgrade as ‘the best Galaxy feature’ sees daily sharing limit doubled

SAMSUNG has quietly boosted one of its popular features used to send friends photos and videos.

Quick Share is the company’s very own file sharing tool which not only works between phones nearby but also uploading them onto the web.

Quick Share works on Galaxy phones – but there’s a way to send files to other devices too

Existing users have described it as “THE best Galaxy feature”.

“I love this feature!!” one person wrote on Reddit.

“Since I use a Windows laptop and a Samsung phone, file transfers are much much easier.”

Until now, you were limited to 5GB per day free.

But Samsung fans have noticed that the allowance has been doubled to 10GB, allowing people to send much larger files than before.

This is especially useful for longer, high quality videos.

Quick Share for files locally via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Direct require both devices to be Galaxy.

But one of the great things about Quick Share is the recipient of files shared online via a link don’t have to own a Galaxy phone to download them.

It also means they can be downloaded to PCs too, not just a smartphone.

By comparison, WhatsApp only allows a maximum of 2GB per file – though a key difference is you can send as you want.

And sites like WeTransfer are limited to 2GB each for free too.

Samsung’s Quick Share does not compress files, so they stay in their original quality.

How to use Quick Share

To use Quick Share for local file sending, first make sure both phones have Quick Share on – you can check by sliding down and looking for the Quick Share icon.

Next, go to the Gallery app and select what you want to send.

Tap the Share button and select a device to transfer the image.

The recipient will then have to accept the file transfer request on their device.

If the recipient isn’t using a Samsung smartphone, you can select copy a share link or create a QR code.

Once that’s done, the file will be uploaded to the Samsung Cloud – the receiver will have two days to download it before it’s cleared.
