Former favourites return to the Bay

A NUMBER of former Colwyn Bay favourites return to the 4 Crosses Arena with defending champions Holywell Town on Tuesday evening (August 6th, 7:45pm).

Ryan Edwards and Kristian Platt were both key members of the Seagulls’ title winning squad of 2022/23, although Platty has not been involved in the Wellman’s two previous games this season, while keeper Ryan Woods made 14 appearances in that championship campaign.

Danny Andrews, who is Holywell’s club captain this season, and Gaz Evans both made over a 100 appearances when they were at the Bay, while Beau Cornish and Shaun Pearson have also played for the Seagulls.

Holywell have won all three competitive games so far, getting through two rounds of the Nathaniel MG Cup and beating Prestatyn Town 6-0 in their opening JD Cymru North fixture.

The experienced Jamie Breeze has been in good form with four goals in three games including a hat-trick against Prestatyn.

The Bay will be looking to continue the improvement they showed against Aberystwyth last weekend, with manager Mike Wilde able to take a lot of positives from that game, despite a second successive defeat.

“We dominated a lot of the football and there’s things we are doing throughout the week that are starting to show a little bit of fruition going forward,” he said.

“Obviously there’s a lot of room for improvement and we’ll continue to do that, but overall, performance wise (against Aberystwyth) it was up a level (from the Bangor 1876 defeat).”
