Capital Region BOCES offers adult nursing classes

The Capital Region Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) will continue offering nursing classes to adults this fall.

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The Capital Region Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) will continue offering nursing classes to adults this fall. In September, the educational service provider will launch its next class of students in its full-time Adult Practical Nursing program, helping students become licensed practical nurses (LPNs).

Classes begin Thursday, Sept. 5, at the BOCES Albany campus on Watervliet-Shaker Road. Anyone interested in registering can enroll by calling (518) 862-4709 or emailing healthcareers@neric.org.

The state-approved program includes 1,100 hours of classroom time, clinical study, and practice at local hospitals, such as Albany Medical Center, Ellis Hospital, and St. Peter's Hospital. Classes will finish in June 2025.

Oluwafunmilade Alim and her husband, Austin, graduated from the program in 2024 and said staff and faculty members are dedicated to helping students. "The Adult Practical Nursing teachers were always there for us as far as they came down to our level in order to communicate with us," she said.
