'Flailing, glitching' Trump appears 'broken' by Kamala Harris: columnist

After watching former President Donald Trump spend the last week raving about Kamala Harris not being a "real" Black woman, progressive USA Today columnist Rex Huppke made the case that Trump's psyche appears to be severely damaged by Harris' entry into the race.

At the start of his column, Huppke took stock of a rally that Trump had over the weekend in Georgia in which he accused Harris of being "low IQ" and "crazy," and even added that "She doesn’t want anyone saying Merry Christmas.”

As if this weren't enough, writes Huppke, Trump then went on to attack Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, whom Trump still blames for not helping him overturn his 2020 election loss in the Peach State.

"Then he aimed his drunk-uncle-inspired rhetoric at Georgia’s popular – and Republican! – governor," writes Huppke. "He attacked Kemp’s wife, saying she once thanked him for endorsing her husband but has now turned on Trump."

While Trump has gone after Kemp in the past, Huppke doubts that he would have done so at this crucial stretch of the 2020 campaign if President Joe Biden was still his opponent.

"What the refocused voters are seeing – what they saw in the Atlanta rally and in the rambling interviews he has been doing – is a man who let an opponent switch up and short-circuit his brain," writes Huppke, who also describes Trump as "flailing, glitching and running scared."

In summing up his argument, Huppke concludes by contending that "where we stand here and now, Trump looks like he’s broken. Broken and running scared."
