Kontides ready to aim for gold

Cypriot Olympic sailor Pavlos Kontides is throwing himself into the medal race, where points count double, at the Paris Olympics, ready to take any opportunity to aim for the gold medal.

“I am not letting emotions get the better of me. I am focused to do the best I can,” Kontides said in statements.

He added that “the way things are in the rankings, I am in a tight spot.”

“I am expecting the Australian to attack. I will try to get away, to do my race and if the opportunity opens for the gold I will chase it, otherwise I will play defensively for the silver medal,” Kontides said.
