Topeka park, swim beach change hours for recreational activities

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Three local attractions for children and families in Topeka will be switching their hours this week as the next school semester begins.

Sean Zears with Shawnee County Parks and Recreation (SCP+R) said in a press release the Gage Park mini train and carousel, along with Lake Shawnee's Adventure Cove, will be entering seasonal hours as of Monday, Aug. 5. Hours will move to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday only from now through to Sunday, Oct. 27.

Lake Shawnee's Adventure Cove will be open Saturday and Sunday for boat rentals only from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. through to Sunday, Sept. 15. The beach and floating playground are closed for the season.

SCP+R announced last week the county's pools and aquatic centers would close on Aug. 4. Dog Swim days are set for Aug. 5 and 6.
