Indictment unsealed for second Albany man accused of 2021 homicide

Court officials unsealed the indictment for an Albany man who is charged with the second-degree murder of 15-year-old Destiny Greene.

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Court officials unsealed the indictment for an Albany man who is charged with the second-degree murder of 15-year-old Destiny Greene. Sincere Cancer, 22, pleaded not guilty to the nine charges in the indictment on Friday, Aug. 2.

Court documents said Cancer, or another participant, attempted a gunpoint robbery on Wilbur Street and caused the death of Destiny Greene on May 24, 2021. The indictment also alleged that Cancer had a loaded firearm and engaged in reckless conduct, creating a risk of death to another person on July 22, 2021.

In November 2022, Braden Rivera of Albany pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree attempted murder in connection to Greene's death. Rivera was sentenced to 25 years in prison in January 2023.

Charges for Cancer

• One count of second-degree murder
• Two counts of first-degree attempted robbery
• Two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
• One count of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
• Two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
• One count of first-degree reckless endangerment

Additionally, the indictment accused Cancer of having over an eighth of an ounce of cocaine and an illegal firearm near Trinity Place on Sept. 12, 2023. Cancer was also indicted for cocaine possession over one-eighth of an ounce with the intent to sell it on Mar. 20, 2024, near Second Street in Albany. Cancer is remanded to Albany County Jail pending a formal bail application.
