Free car seat inspections in Watervliet, Voorheesville

Free car seat inspections held by certified child safety technicians will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8 in Watervliet and Voorheesville. The events, announced by the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee, are part of a year-round safety initiative by the state and law enforcement.

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Free car seat inspections held by certified child safety technicians will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8 in Watervliet and Voorheesville. The events, announced by the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee, are part of a year-round safety initiative by the state and law enforcement.

The inspections at the two locations are offered by appointment only. Technicians will be available for parents and caregivers to learn how to properly install their child's seat.

LOCATIONS:

• From 3:00- 6:00 p.m. at Watervliet Elementary School, 2557 10th Avenue
• From 3:30-6:30 p.m. at Voorheesville Farmers Market at the United Methodist Church of Voorheesville, 68 Maple Avenue

A "Learn, Practice and Explain" method will be used to help educate each attendee how to choose the right seat for the child's age, size and for the vehicle. Those who cannot attend the event can make an appointment with a participating police station or a participating facility.
