Top 5 bowlers with the most wickets in T20I cricket
1. Tim Southee (New Zealand) – 164 wickets
Southee is also a great bowler in the Test and ODI format, however he shines the most for the Black Caps in T20Is. The Kiwi is the highest wicket-taker in the format for a reason. His wicket-taking ability in the format is quite exceptional. Southee’s best bowling figures of 5/18 came against Pakistan back in the year 2010.
2. Rashid Khan (Afghanistan) – 152 wickets
Rashid has without a doubt been the driving force behind Afghanistan’s rise in international cricket. He single-handedly has the ability to turn the game around in the favour of his side through his impressive spin bowling. His best figures of 5/3 came against Ireland back in 2017.
3. Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh) – 149 wickets
With over 3,000 runs and almost 150 wickets in the format, Shakib is arguably the best all-rounder in T20I history. Like Rashid, Shakib has also carried Bangladesh single-handedly to many important victories either through his batting or through his superb spin bowling. His best bowling figures of 5/20 came against the West Indies back in 2018.
4. Ish Sodhi (New Zealand) – 138 wickets
The Kiwi spinner is easily the best-ever spinner to come out of New Zealand in the T20I format. Sodhi’s bowling was quite impressive, and he used to dismantle big teams’ batting orders in international T20I tournaments or series. His figures of 4/28 against Bangladesh in 2021 remain as his best figures from the format.
5. Mustafizur Rahman (Bangladesh) – 128 wickets
The Bangladeshi pacer has been a massive asset for his side in the bowling department especially in the T20I format. His quality fast bowling was crucial for Bangladesh in restricting opposing sides to low totals or bowling them out for low scores. His best bowling figures of 6/10 came against the USA earlier this year.
