Sabrina Carpenter Surprises Fans With New Song at Grammy Museum Event

Sabrina Carpenter took fans by surprise when she decided to play a song from her unreleased album.

The 25-year-old singer has her new album releasing at the end of the month on August 23rd. Her sixth album, titled Short n’ Sweet, features hits from the singer such as “Espresso” and “Please Please Please.” On Friday (August 2), Sabrina was set to perform these two hits during a moderated discussion at the Grammy Museum’s Clive Davis Theater in Los Angeles.

Instead of just a moderated discussion and performing two songs though, the singer went on to perform a new song from her upcoming album entitled “Slim Pickins.” To preface this performance, Sabrina said, “This one’s cute and I just like, wanted to sing it for you today. Super random of me so it’s called ‘Slim Pickins’ and I hope you like it.”

To perform alongside her was a special guest, Jack Antonoff, who is most known for collaborating with artists like Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey. He is credited as both a producer and writer on Sabrina’s upcoming album.

During the performance, it became clear that Sabrina was back to her old habits of word play and infusing comedy with her music. The song’s second verse began, “Jesus, what’s a girl to do? / This boy doesn’t even know the difference between ‘their,’ ‘there’ and ‘they are’ / Yet he’s naked in my room.’

Sabrina also went into detail about the popular “me, espresso” lyric and her music-making process last month.
