OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - A metro apartment complex is on edge after a woman was shot while lying in bed overnight Sunday

"The shots were just like, pow pow pow pow pow… To the point where you're laying on the ground and you just jump up like, ‘What was that?’" said Shelley Graham who lives at the North Village Apartment Homes, near Britton and Hefner.

Oklahoma City Police said a woman just got home from a convenience store and was lying in bed when bullets started flying through her second story window.

"I heard a girl, I guess it was a girl, screaming so that's when I knew something was going on,” said Graham.

Investigators said the woman was hit twice in the leg. She was rushed to a hospital and is expected to survive.

"We're thankful not only that nobody else was hit by the gunfire, but we're also very thankful that she's going to survive this,” said MSgt. Gary Knight with the OKCPD. "As bad as it was, it could have been much worse."

Officers said the shooter, 18-year-old Andrew Jacob Jones, was found walking nearby. Police are still piecing together why he pulled the trigger.

"It not only upsets me, it disturbs me,” said Scott Jones who lives in the area. “I hope they find peace and remedy."

Jones was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail. His bond is set at $50,000.
