Marysville girl gets a wave from her idol Katie Ledecky

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A young girl from Marysville had an interaction that went viral online while at the Paris Olympics.

Madden Lowry traveled from Marysville to Paris to see her idol, Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky. She couldn't contain her excitement when she saw Ledecky win her 12th career gold medal, who then turned and waved to her in the crowd.

"I thought it was really cool because she is the best swimmer of all time," Lowry said. "I, like, could barely breathe. Basically, I was screaming for almost the entire 1500."

USA Swimming’s official Instagram post about the interaction reads, “She is all of us.”

Lowry is also a swimmer and is hoping if she works hard enough this season, Ledecky will want to meet her.

With a silver in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay Thursday night, Ledecky collected the 13th medal of her stellar Olympic career to become the most decorated female in swimming history.
