K-State and KU football ranked in preseason coaches poll

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Both K-State and KU football are getting national recognition ahead of the 2024 season.

In the latest US LBM preseason coaches poll, the Wildcats check in at No. 17 on the list, while the Jayhawks come in at No. 24. KU is coming off a 9-4 2023 campaign that ended in its first bowl victory in over the decade. K-State also finished the 2023 season 9-4 with a bowl win, beating NC State in the inaugural Pop Tarts Bowl.

Other Big 12 schools that made the coaches poll include conference newcomer Utah at No. 13, Oklahoma State at No. 18 and Arizona at No. 21. As far as preseason Big 12 media rankings go, Utah was picked to win the conference, with K-State expected to finish second, Oklahoma State third and KU fourth.

KU begins its season against Lindenwood on Aug. 29, and K-State kicks things off against UT Martin on Aug. 31.
