Huge Five Nights at Freddy’s collaboration confirmed – but it’s not what fans were hoping for

IT has been 10 years since indie sensation Five Nights at Freddy’s first took over gaming, and to celebrate, developer Scottgames had a schedule of events for fans.

The tenth-anniversary schedule included a mystery FNAF collaboration that fans could not stop themselves from speculating about.

The most popular guess for the collaboration was FNAF x Fortnite for several reasons, including the fact that Fortnite would see a huge update the day after the scheduled announcement.

Fortnite is known for doing huge collaborations with other big-name brands, movies and gaming IPs, and FNAF seems like a perfect fit.

FNAF antagonist, Freddy Fazbear, was also recently included in a Fortnite poll trying to gauge players’ interest for upcoming collabs.

Despite the timing of these events, it appears fans made a mistake as the mystery collaboration is not with the popular battle royale.

Instead, FNAF will be collaborating with Dead by Daylight, another online multiplayer game known for its crossovers with other brands.

Dead by Daylight was another game that was speculated for the mystery collaboration, but many fans dismissed it thanks to another upcoming DBD collaboration with Castlevania.

The Castlevania collaboration will begin this month, which is why fans didn’t believe another crossover for DBD would be announced.

However, the FNAFxDBD collaboration is still a long way off, which is why there was time for it to be announced.

Not much is known about the upcoming crossover, but the official Dead by Daylight Twitter account shared an image confirming the upcoming event.

The image simply reads “Dead By Daylight x Five Nights at Freddy’s”, revealing the collaboration with few details.

It does have a release window of Summer 2025, so we’ll have to wait a long time for more details.

There are two types of Dead by Daylight collaborations: ones that are simply cosmetic, and others where characters from other games and movies appear as Killers or Survivors.

DBD is an asymmetrical survival game where one or two players choose Killers to play as, and four to eight players are Survivors who have to escape the Killers’ grasp.

Fans are all hoping for the latter, with one person writing: “Daddy Daylight, can you at least tell us if this is full content or just a cosmetic collab?”

Another said: “Please something more than just skins, pleaseee.”
