YONKERS, N.Y. (PIX11) – The Yonkers Police Department transferred the investigation into a burned body to the NYPD, officials announced Monday.

A body was found in a shopping cart near the Oak Street bridge around 2 a.m. The body was apparently set on fire, according to authorities.

Investigators deemed the death a homicide and believed the body was dumped in Yonkers, per police.

Sources told PIX11 News that the investigation led authorities to the 41st Precinct in the Bronx.
