MADRID – Palladium Hotel Group announce the first-year results of Palladium Cares, the group’s corporate social responsibility identity initiative. Focused on three main pillars: Our People, Our Community, and Our Planet, the program aims to enhance the quality of life within and outside the company, promoting employee well-being, supporting local communities, and fostering environmental sustainability. Since its launch, Palladium Cares has made significant progress in various projects across Europe and America, including opening training centers, providing employee scholarships, and collaborating with local NGOs to keep advancing the group’s mission.

“We are proud of the impact that Palladium Cares has made since its inception across Europe and the Americas, advancing our mission in the regions we serve,” said Gloria Juste, Corporate Social Responsibility Sr. Director of Palladium Hotel Group. “Through our work with the hotels in the region and local NGOs, we have seen tangible results that contribute to our employee’s well-being and the local communities. From opening training centers in Mexico and Jamaica to implementing scholarships for our employee’s families. We will continue our work to focus on the people, the community, and the planet in the coming months.”

In total, the company carried out 486 activities throughout 2023, including 156 environmental activities, 190 activities implemented internally, and 140 carried out externally. In addition, over 700 volunteers have participated across its project 4 Causes to Take Action, as well as 58 NGOs benefiting over 2,000 people.

Training and Family Centers

In Mexico, where the group operates in 3 destinations, Palladium Cares has announced new training centers and developments with local NGOs to support employees. The company has signed an agreement with a local organization, Fundación Origen, to open a professional training and family support center in Isla Mujeres, set to open in September. This center will focus on training, education, emotional and nutritional health, and comprehensive family support.

The hotels in Mexico have also joined corporate volunteering efforts in social and environmental matters, with 55 volunteers collaborating with four NGOs, impacting 155 beneficiaries. Across the Americas, significant improvements have been made, including the inauguration of lactation rooms, renovations of rest areas, agreements with daycare centers, and improvements in locker rooms. Additionally, Palladium Cares has launched university scholarships for its employees’ children, with a pilot project in Mexico to fully fund university studies and accommodations. This initiative plans to expand across other Palladium Hotel Group hotels in America.

In Jamaica, five centers have opened, with another set to open by the end of the year. To date, 90 students have completed internships, including 20 at hotels managed by the company.  Additionally, negotiations are underway to allocate land for a sustainable agricultural center that will be integrated with the community, further reinforcing the commitment to a circular economy.

Elderly Support, and the Launch of 4 Causes in the Dominican Republic

Palladium Hotel Group’s project, 4 Causes to Take Action, has now expanded to the Americas, specifically the Dominican Republic. Originally launched in Europe, this project focuses on four specific causes throughout the year: childhood, inequality, the planet, and elderly care. The hotels in the Dominican Republic have initiated the fourth cause of this yearly program, elderly support with 57 volunteers benefiting 312 elderly individuals in collaboration with three NGOs.

In Europe, a total of 186 volunteers from all hotels managed by Palladium Hotel Group have joined this initiative, collaborating with 16 NGOs including Fundación Adopta un Abuelo, Cáritas, ADIMA, AFAEF, Hermanitas de los Pobres, Grandes Amigos, and Fundación Amigos de los Mayores, benefiting over 450 elderly individuals.

Since launching the program in 2023, Palladium Hotel Group has focused this effort on providing companionship, affection, and friendship to the elderly, recognizing their experience and wisdom.  Notable activities include magic shows, music performances, visits to nursing homes, and dance classes.

Sustainable Practices

The company continues operations of its Agricultural Production Center in Brazil, which opened last year to provide environmental education and training on sustainable practices.

In Mexico, the innovative “Soap for Hope” project, which fulfills both social and environmental goals, has processed and recycled over 6,000 hotel soaps during its pilot phase, reducing solid soap waste and CO2 emissions. This project has also seen 1,932 soaps donated to those with very few resources, in order for them to be sold as a means of income. Palladium Hotel Group is looking to implement the project across other hotels globally.
