For years, beauty fans have wondered the secrets behind Olympians beauty regime[/caption]

From triumphant wins, to record breaking timings, the Olympians have performed some breathtaking stunts without a hair out of place.

From their hair, to their makeup and even their well moisturised skin, these Olympians know how to present themselves.

But one question on many people’s lips is how do the gymnasts get their bikini lines so fuzz free and smooth.

Most of us who shave will know that freshly silky feeling will only last a day or so because it becomes prickly.

And sometimes that can leave you in a rut as the more you shave the more irritation that you can experience.

A former team Canada gymnast has revealed her tricks she used to make sure she was competition ready.

The woman, who goes by the name of mi-elskincare on TikTok, gave an insight into the beauty tricks that gymnasts use, and also how to avoid any razor bumps or ingrown hairs.

She revealed that because she wasn’t allowed to wear shorts, the gymnast was shaving every other day.

The gymnast revealed that she has a step-by-step guide which must be followed, as you will “probably” get razor bumps if you skip a step.

She first starts off by using a honey infused sugar scrub, and applies this to soft circular motions over her bikini line.

Exfoliating is important as it clears out your pores and gets rid of any dead skin that’s in the area that could clog it and cause irritation.

In terms of the razor, the Canadian former gymnast will use a men’s four to five blade razor as it’s the sharpest and provides the closest shave.

She also adds that because it is designed to shave the face, it works “great” for sensitive skin.

The TikToker advised to not store your razor in the shower as this will “dull the blades faster,” and that beauty fans should change their razor blades every six shaves.

Instead of using shaving cream, she also recommends the LA Roche Posay Lipid Replenishing anti-itching soothing body cleansing cream, £16, from LOOKFANTASTIC.

When shaving, she will use short strokes to prevent irritation, and pull her skin up whilst she shaves in a downward motion.

Then when it comes to the sides, she’ll pull her skin to the side and shave “on the other side.”

But for a really close shave for those who will be wearing a high cut bikini, she says: “I will literally squat like a frog, and pull your skin and shave, use really short motions, and be careful because it’s a very sensitive area.”

Beauty secrets of current Olympians

Jordan Chiles
The American gymnast has a 26-step makeup routine which includes 15 different products.

To ensure her makeup lasts throughout her performances, she uses a foundation, concealer, primers, eyeshadows, lip oils and liners, blush, contour and eyebrows included

Jordan, who has a few hours to get ready before competing, will also pay extra attention to her eye area, using an eyeshadow primer and setting powder both from Fenty Beauty.

The gymnast then adds these products to the inner corners of her eyes to achieve a brightening effect that looks good under the spotlight during her matches.

Simon Biles
Preparation is key for Simone, who starts off by using a  Milk Makeup’s Hydro Grip Primer, £18 for 10ml of £35 for 45ml.

She then goes on to apply concealer, foundation, liquid eyeliner and mascara, before then using two different setting sprays.

The gold medallist uses the ONE/SIZE On ‘Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray, £30, first, and then Ben Nye Final Seal Matte Makeup Sealer, which costs £25.20 from Amazon.

Simone has also been spotted blotting away sweat with a powder.

Lina Nielsen
She’s a 400m sprinter for Great Britain, which means she’ll know a thing or two about looking race ready at all times.

To help prevent breakouts from dirt and sweat, Lina will use a hypochlorous acid spray.

She also has stripped back the products she would normally use and keeps her skincare routine super-simple.

On her race day, Lina will moisturise more than usual to keep her skin protected.

She will always use a primer before wearing make-up to make sure everything locks in place.

How do they do their hair?

Expert Trichologists at Philip Kingsley share their top tips on how to look after your hair like an Olympic Champion

  • Swimcap Hair Mask: Using the Swimcap means your hair stays protected but also hydrated so you get the benefits of a leave-in treatment at the same time! The uniquely creamy, conditioning formula — originally formulated for the USA Olympic synchronized swim team — treats and shields hair from the drying, damaging effects of the sun, sea, chlorine and UV, helping to keep tresses nourished and hydrated.
  • Hair care whilst exercising:
  • Pre-shampoo conditioning masks are great to use whilst exercising, so why not put in the hair before tying into a tight ponytail – like the one we saw Keeley rocking last night! (Elasticizer)
  • Detangle your hair after as it may get tangled during a session, and wash with a shampoo and conditioner suitable for your hair texture.
  • If your scalp gets itchy after a work-out session, use a soothing anti-microbial shampoo, like Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo.
  • Training to work
    • Philip Kingsley’s Dry Shampoo is on hand for the days when you’re going straight from training to the office, adding days of life back into your hair and soaking up Greece.

After care is the “most important part of your shaving routine,” as this can prevent razor bumps and ingrown hairs.

After patting her skin dry, I will use a Glycolic acid, which is a natural exfoliant and a ‘bump be gone’ cream and apply it all over my legs and on my bikini line.
