Fouche owns a salon in London, England, and has had Kate Hudson, LeAnne Rimes, and Gal Gadot among his A-list clients.

Speaking to The U.S. Sun, he shared must-try tips for rapidly growing longer hair.

MOM KNOWS BEST

Fouche said haircare routines should be focused on prolonging the anagen phase of hair growth.

He revealed natural remedies such as rosemary oil are “ineffective” for growth but may be beneficial for a healthy scalp.

“One of the most effective home remedies I can recommend is to maintain a consistent haircare routine,” he said.

“Make sure to shampoo your hair regularly and rinse out all products thoroughly to prevent buildup that could impede growth.”

He said hair should also be brushed every night to stimulate circulation in the scalp.

“My mother always swore by the practice of brushing a hundred strokes each night, believing it helped invigorate the scalp and encourage healthy hair growth,” he said.

“While these tips might seem simple, they can contribute to overall hair health when incorporated into your daily routine.”

NEW TOOLS

Fouche revealed that using “harsh brushes” tops the list of common haircare mistakes that hinder the growth of tresses.

He said the wrong type of brush can cause breakage and damage.

“Secondly, products containing silicones can create a barrier that prevents the scalp from breathing, which can negatively affect hair growth,” he said.

“Improper scalp care is another major issue.

“Not shampooing your scalp properly or failing to rinse out products thoroughly can lead to buildup, which clogs hair follicles and hinders growth.

“Additionally, not shampooing regularly enough can result in an accumulation of sebum, causing inflammation and potentially leading to hair loss.”

While heat styling tools can damage hair, it’s the improper use of these tools, such as excessive heat or lack of heat protection, that poses a greater risk to hair health.

Many people are aware of the damage that heat-styling tools can cause to locks.

However, Fouche said it’s the improper use of these tools that poses the greatest risk to hair health, such as excessive heat or a lack of heat protection.

POWERFUL PRODUCTS

Fouche said it’s important not to style hair with “tight ponytails” when trying to grow longer locks.

He said red light therapy can also be beneficial alongside over-the-counter treatments.

“One of the most effective options is Regain, which contains Minoxidil,” he said.

“Minoxidil has been clinically proven to help stimulate hair growth and can be quite effective when used consistently.

“It’s a well-researched and trusted product in the field of hair loss treatment.”

Fouche recommended reading the label on routinely used hair products to ensure that they don’t contain harmful ingredients.

“Very strong sulfates, such as Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS), can dehydrate the scalp and impede the natural thickness of the hair,” he said.

“Additionally, various silicones, like dimethicone, trimethicone, ammoniomethicone, and ammoniomethicanol, can create a barrier that prevents the scalp and hair from breathing, which can also inhibit hair growth.

“Avoiding these ingredients can help maintain a healthier scalp environment conducive to hair growth.”

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Fouche said it’s “crucial” to pay attention to having a balanced diet as the body prioritizes essential functions before hair health.

A blood test can be useful for checking if you are consuming an optimal amount of the necessary nutrients and minerals to stimulate growth.

“Ensure that your ferritin levels are above 70, as ferritin is essential for iron absorption,” he said.

“While normal ferritin levels range from 50 to 150, a level above 70 is recommended for optimal hair health.

“If your ferritin is low, even high iron levels won’t be effectively utilized, which can lead to increased hair loss.”

He said Omega-3 fatty acids and zinc are equally important for hair health.

“Adequate protein intake is also essential for maintaining healthy hair,” he said.

“B vitamins, including biotin, are important, but be cautious with biotin supplementation as excessive amounts can sometimes have adverse effects.

“It’s best to have blood tests done to determine if you need biotin supplements.”
