Watch moment driver receives ‘instant karma’ for scary undertake on busy road – but were they in the wrong?

THIS is the moment a driver received “instant karma” for a scary undertake – but left viewers divided on who was in the wrong.

The furious motorists didn’t know who they were dealing with when they locked horns with another car.

Dash cam footage shows the two cars, one black and one silver, travelling along a busy, two-lane road.

As the traffic passes under a bridge, the lanes merge from the left to accommodate a bus lane on the inside.

The merger is marked out by white arrows on the road surface.

Approaching the pinch point, the black car attempts to pull out into the right-hand lane as instructed by the road markings.

However, the silver car refuses to let them in and maintains a constant speed to try and force them behind.

The black car pulls out anyway, forcing the other driver to brake sharply.

Left fuming by the move, the silver car pulls across a solid white line into a bus lane and speeds up to undertake its rival, before pulling back out in front.

Unfortunately for the incensed driver, it was at this point that the blue lights flickered into life on the black SUV, revealing it to be an unmarked police car.

Social media users were quick to laugh at their expense.

One wrote: “It’s amazing what stupid things some drivers will do just to save a couple of seconds.”

Another added: “It’s very simple to merge in turns but people make it hard for no reason.”

Others joked that the owner of the silver car had received some “instant karma” for the dangerous manoeuvre.

And yet there was some division over whether the police car also bore some responsibility for the clash.

Handily expert lawyer and SunMotors columnist Daniel ShenSmith was on hand to clarify the rules.

Speaking on his Black Belt Barrister YouTube channel, he said: “What ought to have happened here is for the silver car on the right to allow the police car to come in front.

“Obviously they didn’t.

“Either way around the police car could have hung back and waited for the other car to move.

“It was perfectly clear behind…the vehicle behind allowed the space.

“The [silver car] then acts aggressively, crosses the white line…this is absolutely wrong and is careless driving.

“But it does show that the police vehicle has essentially forced its way in…so the police car’s been caught out doing something wrong as well.”

However, Daniel suggested that the police car was also in the wrong as it forced its way in front, rather than merging behind[/caption]
