I’m obsessed with Dettol – I use a bottle a DAY & clean my whole house with it, people can always smell it off me

A CLEANING fanatic has revealed she’s so obsessed with Dettol that she uses a whole bottle every day – and the smell was even her pregnancy craving.

Mum-of-two Dee, from Scotland, spends £120 a month on the disinfectant and regularly bulk buys to keep her cupboards full.

And the best gift she’s ever received from a loved one was even a hamper full of Dettol.

Explaining her love for the product, she told Fabulous: “I love the smell of it and have it lingering all over the house, it’s amazing.

“People say they can smell it off my clothes and presence before I even come close with them.

“I always get comments off the postman and delivery men saying they can smell it before I open my front door.”

She added: “It’s got to the point I walk into a shop, and if it sells it I can’t walk out without buying a bottle.

“My friend made me up a huge hamper as a present with lots of different size bottles of it and it’s the best gift I’ve ever received. It made me so happy.”

While pregnant with her youngest child, Dee craved the smell of Dettol and regularly filled sinks with the liquid and boiling water to waft through her home.

She would also douse a sponge in the product so she could sit and smell it.

She joked: “I thought cravings were supposed to stop once you had the baby?

“Maybe this is just how my house will smell forever now. It’s my full personality.”

Dee has since gone viral on TikTok (@daackx) with clips talking about her Dettol obsession.

And it turns out she’s not alone, with her videos racking up hundreds of thousands of views.

“Omg obsessed with Dettol too”, one person admitted.

A second echoed: “I’m obsessed but my partner hates it. It was my craving when pregnant too.”

Meanwhile, a third added: “I’m addicted to the smell. I f***ing love this s***!!! I order it online as its cheaper.”

Dee’s top tips for using Dettol around the house

  • To clean skirting boards
  • Wipe down doors and handles
  • Clean inside the washing machine
  • Clean the floors (every day)
  • Fill sinks with a capful and boiling water to clean, and for smell
  • Wipe down radiators
  • Fill the washing machine drawer for getting trainers “squeaky clean”
  • Wiping down kids highchair and table

Dettol was first invented in 1933 to help doctors protect the lives of mothers and babies in hospitals from infectious illnesses.

It has since found its way into people’s houses as a cleaning staple.

And houseproud Dee’s home will definitely give the wards a run for their money in the cleanliness stakes.

She said: “I’m literally addicted to the stuff. I don’t go a day without mopping my floors with it.

“I clean absolutely everything in my house I can with it. I crave the smell.”

She added: “If I have been working, I can’t wait to get home to fill a sink and hot water of it.

“And if I’m down to my last five bottles I start to panic and need to buy more.”
