TELETUBBIES baby Jess Smith appeared on This Morning with her own child today.

The former child star was joined by her own bundle of joy, five-month-old Poppy, as the stars looked back at their time on the show.

When asked whether she tells her friends about her claim to fame, Jess said: “I don’t, but everyone I’m with knows so everyone else tells everybody.

“So, my partner Ricky tells everybody and so does his family, so does my family. Everybody tells everybody so it doesn’t matter where I go, everybody knows.”

On how she got the job in the first place, she explained how a stroke of luck during a hospital visit ended up in her being chosen for the coveted role.

Jess divulged: “I was being weighed at the hospital. Apparently, I was a crybaby at the time.

“The only way my mum could settle me was to take me to the hospital for the midwives, and that was the furthest point in the village, so that’s where she took me.

“And the producer had been in the same day and asked to forward any baby names.

“So, that’s what happened and I believe it was a mini audition and then, yeah, got the part.”

Hosts Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle remarked that Jess’ “bright blue eyes” hadn’t changed before asking if Poppy might take on the gig for the upcoming reboot.

She gushed: “We’d absolutely go for it. Absolutely. It would be so nice to see her on my role from when I was little. Just to take over my legacy.”

Jess first gained success after appearing in the kids’ classic TV programme, where she greeted viewers as the giggling baby in the sun.

The show, documenting the goings-on of the cheeky creatures Tinky Winky, Dipsy, La-la and Po in Teletubbyland, ran between 1997 and 2001 – although it was rebooted around 2014.

Jess documented her pregnancy on her Instagram page – sharing pictures of when she went to her scans, and from her baby shower.

“Cannot thank everyone enough for a lovely afternoon,” Jess wrote alongside pictures of her “fantastic baby shower”.

She also used the social media site to announce her pregnancy, as she shared pictures of the baby scan and wrote: “When two becomes three”.
