Speaking to Parade.com, Fiona Lambert (@fionalambertofficial) recounted her fitness journey, explaining how she came to be in “the best shape” of her life.

She revealed that it was her milestone 60th birthday that prompted her to switch up her lifestyle.

“I wanted people to know it was OK to be 60,” she told the outlet.

“I was frustrated as a woman that I didn’t feel I could say my age [proudly].

“I decided to get as fit as possible to prove that 60 can be a beginning rather than an end, it’s a great age.”

She shared the steps she took to achieve this goal, pointing out that she was already reasonably fit to begin with.

Fiona’s exercise background included everything from Jane Fonda workouts to charity runs.

However, her go-to method for staying in shape now is far less complex.

“Walking is the secret weapon for getting in shape,” she explained.

She also swears by high intensity workouts, which she does four times a week.

“Hight Intensity Interval Training workouts burn a lot of energy really quickly,” she said.

Fiona explained that she does 45 seconds of each move followed by a 15 second rest.

Her go-to moves include mountain climbers, squats, jumping jacks, push-ups, high knees, forward lunges, shoulder taps, glute bridge, bicycle crunches, and tricep dips.

The fitness pro revealed that she got into the workouts by following 20-minute videos on YouTube.

Fiona also swears by a high-protein low-carb diet to maintain her fitness.

“I eat lots of fish, lean meat and lots and lots of vegetables,” she said, explaining that 80 grams of protein is her daily intake goal.

Fitness tips for people over 60

The 61-year-old fitness influencer credited three simple steps to helping her on her way.

  • Walk as much as you can each day.
  • Take four HIIT workout classes every week.
  • Follow a high-protein low-carb diet, aiming for 80g of protein a day.

But Fiona highlighted that baby steps are also neccessary in your fitness journey to avoid burnout.

She suggested simply adding small walks or short workout routines to your schedule.

“You’ll be surprised how quickly the steps add up,” Fiona explained.

She credited her slower start to helping her get in “the best shape of my life.”

“It’s never too late and you’re never too old, that’s my mantra,” Fiona said.
