Mikey Moore turns 17 on Sunday

Players are allowed to sign their first professional contracts when they turn 17 and it has now emerged that Moore has agreed a three-year deal with the Lilywhites, with the announcement expected this Sunday.

It is explained that Spurs have offered the teenager a bigger salary than they ever have for a player turning 17, with the youngster thought of very highly by those at Hotspur Way.

The winger made his senior debut for Tottenham last season in the clash against Manchester City, becoming the youngest player to represent the North London side in the Premier League.

The Athletic also point out that a three-year deal is the longest allowed under FIFA’s regulations for a player who is yet to turn 18.

Once Moore turns 18, Spurs will be free to negotiate a new longer-term contract, should both parties be interested in such talks.

According to reports over the last few weeks, several big clubs across Europe, including Man Utd, Man City, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, made unsuccessful attempts to poach Moore from Spurs this summer (Football Insider).

Spurs Web Opinion

This is excellent news for Tottenham, with Moore being considered one of the best players in his age group across the world.

The youngster would feel that under a manager like Postecoglou, he stands a decent chance of getting a regular first-team spot at Spurs over the next year or two.
