"They were claiming that I owe them around $400 for both water and sewer fee, which is around 20 times what I normally paid previously throughout the whole year."

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — A woman is in disbelief after receiving her water bill showing she owed almost $400 for water and sewer, when she typically pays between $20 and $40.

Violet Oh moved out of the Avia at the Lakes Apartments in OKC in July, hoping to get a fresh start somewhere new.

That hope was nearly washed away when she her final water bill.

"They were claiming that I owe them around $400 for both water and sewer fee, which is around 20 times what I normally paid previously throughout the whole year," Oh said.

Her last bill shows she used 47,500 gallons of water, equivalent to filling up her bathtub nearly 800 times.

"It seems like they don't want to be responsible for what they should be responsible for," Oh said.

She claims that it is impossible for her to use that much water, especially when she is use to paying around $15-$20 every month prior.

She tried talking to management, but said they were giving her the runaround.

"They said I need to talk to the Former Resident Care, and then so I did," Oh said. "Then they were saying that they can't do anything about it, I need to talk to the apartment. Then I did also contact the third party utility service called Con Service, and they were also saying, my account is closed, I have to talk to the apartment. So, everybody was saying that I need to talk to somebody else."

Fed up, she decided to reach out to News 4.

"I thought I would give it a try because I really didn't know where to ask for help," Oh said. "So, I'm really grateful that you are trying to help me out here."

When we went to the apartment complex front office to speak with someone, an employee immediately knew who I was referring to and why.

The employee said they fixed the issue Friday and reduced the amount to around $15, but Oh says nothing has changed on her end.

"They told me that they will email me if anything happens and they did not email," Oh said. "When I try to check the balance in the account, they said my account is no longer available. So, I just think they are not saying the truth."

The apartment complex employee added that it could take a few business days before Oh sees the change because it is through a company out of Texas.

We called to try and verify that but didn't hear back. We will continue to monitor the situation until Oh sees the reduced cost on her end.
