Flags to be lowered statewide for fallen Wichita firefighter

Governor Laura Kelly has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in memory of fallen Wichita firefighter Ty Voth.

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) -- Governor Laura Kelly has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in memory of fallen Wichita firefighter Ty Voth.

Gov. Kelly signed an executive order to lower flags on Friday, August 9, from sunrise to sundown in honor of Voth. Voth died Thursday, August 1, while battling a house fire in Haysville.

“Ty Voth made the ultimate sacrifice, and he was taken much too soon,” says Governor Laura Kelly. “His dedication and selflessness will not be forgotten. My deepest condolences go out to his family, loved ones, colleagues, and the entire Wichita community.”

Funeral services for Voth will take place Friday at Park City Arena.
