Alpin Haus acquires Latham's High Adventure Ski Shop

Alpin Haus has taken ownership of High Adventure Ski Shop in Latham. The outdoor recreation retailers with six stores in the Capital Region, Hudson Valley and Northern Jersey announced the acquisition Tuesday as their third ski shop in the Capital Region.

LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Alpin Haus has taken ownership of High Adventure Ski Shop in Latham. The outdoor recreation retailers with six stores in the Capital Region, Hudson Valley and Northern Jersey announced the acquisition Tuesday as their third ski shop in the Capital Region.

High Adventure, a ski equipment and apparel business, 1054 Troy-Schenectady Road, previously owned by Diana and Darrel Karl has been open for 31 years. With the sale however, the Karl family and their staff will still be a part of the business.

"For the past three decades, we have had the honor to serve the Latham and surrounding communities with your ski shop needs," High Adventure principal owners Diana and Darrell Karl said in a statement. "As we began to look towards our future and retirement plans, we are happy to share that High Adventure will now be part of the Alpin Haus family. The Heck family shares the same values and commitment to their employees and customers that we do, and we are looking forward to joining their team."

Alpin Haus President Andy Hack said this opportunity will benefit customers for both businesses. It will also be centrally located between it's Amsterdam and Clifton Park stores.

"Our combined existing customers, and future customers alike, will benefit from an expansive inventory, state-of-the-art technology and an impeccable customer service team. Alpin Haus was founded by my father in 1964 and we’re proud to carry on his vision as a family-owned business as we expand our services into Latham through the acquisition of High Adventure Ski Shop."

Alpin Haus is currently celebrating 60 years of business. Prior to this acquisition, the business expanded its Amsterdam store in both the ski and pool departments and will soon celebrate 15 years in business in Clifton Park.
