Siena Poll: Harris leads Trump by 14 points in NY

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Siena College Research Institute conducted a poll of the likely voters in New York. This poll asked questions ranging from how voters feel about the direction the state is going in to who they would vote for if the election were to happen right now.

The first question of the poll asked if voters think New York is on the right track or headed in the wrong direction. 39% said the state was on the right track, 51% said it was headed in the wrong direction, and 10% didn't know or didn't have an opinion.

When asked if the country was on the right track, 30% said it was. 61% said the country is headed in the wrong direction and 9% didn't know or didn't have an opinion.

Voters were also asked their opinions on Vice President Kamala Harris, Former President Donald Trump, and J.D. Vance. 53% of voters in New York had a favorable opinion of Harris, while 43% did not, and 3% didn't know or had no opinion.

39% of voters had a favorable opinion of Trump and 59% had an unfavorable opinion of him. For Vance, 31% of voters had a favorable opinion, 52% had an unfavorable one, and 17% didn't know or had no opinion.

The poll also asked voters how likely it is that they will vote in this year's presidential election. 63% were almost certain they would vote, 30% said it was very likely for them, 5% said somewhat likely, 1% said it wasn't likely at all, and 1% didn't know or refused to answer.

In terms of the 2024 election, the poll asked who voters would vote for if the race happened today. 53% said they would vote for Harris while 39% said they would vote for Trump. 2% said they would vote for someone else, 1% said they wouldn't vote, and 4% didn't know or refused to answer.

The poll also found that 74% of New York voters feel that the upcoming election is the most important one of their lifetime. 23% felt that this election was no more or no less important than every other election.
