Which roads will be closed this weekend for Austin Pride?

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to flock to downtown Austin this weekend to celebrate the 2024 Austin Pride Parade & Festival, an annual event celebrating the LGBTQ+ community.
The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Fiesta Gardens, located at 2015 Jesse E Segovia St. More than 200,000 people attend Austin Pride each year, with the festival including games and carnival rides, drag story time as well as more than 100 vendors.
Alongside the festival is the parade, a free event that kicks off at 8 p.m. at the Texas Capitol Building and runs down Congress Avenue before ending on the Ann Richards Bridge. In light of the festival, city officials flagged several road closures in downtown Austin surrounding Congress Avenue.
Roads impacted include Congress Avenue and the Congress Avenue Bridge as well as portions of San Jacinto Boulevard, 11th through 14th streets, Fourth Street and Cesar Chavez Street. A complete outline of full and partial road closures are mapped below.
Those looking for alternative traffic routes can utilize the following roadways:
- North and southbound traffic: Red River Street, Trinity Street (northbound access only), Lavaca Street and Guadalupe Street
- East and westbound traffic: 15th Street, Riverside Drive and Barton Springs Road
CapMetro officials flagged services downtown will be impacted after 12:30 p.m. Saturday. These routes will be detoured in two phases due to Congress Avenue road closures: 2, 4, 5, 7 and 10. That list of full detours and alternative bus stop access points is available online.
