Columbus gin bar suddenly closes after less than a year

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- An Old North bar with drinks, food and music called one of the "best new restaurants" has suddenly shut down less than a year after it opened.

The Adelaide's Gin Joint building at 2333 N. High St. is up for sale after the business recently closed, according to a real estate listing for the property. Adelaide's has yet to confirm or give reason for the closure itself, with no statements published as of Tuesday to its social media accounts.

Opened in October, Adelaide's specialized in gin drinks, which included an option for customers to craft their own gin and tonic. The bar also offered beer, wine, cocktails and food options for those wanting a bite to eat. It was listed in Columbus Monthly as one of the best new restaurants of 2024.

Owned by married couple Rodrick Pauley and Laura Justice, Adelaide's was opened as a "modern, prohibition-inspired" bar for customers to enjoy jazz in addition to food and drinks. Pauley is a classically trained trumpet player and the couple wanted music to be a focal point of the space.

Now for sale, the 3,870-square-foot space has a patio, stage area, sound systems, restrooms, dining areas, kitchen, library room, 11 parking spots and more, according to the real estate listing. The property is listed at an asking price of $150,000.
