Picturesque Southern City Just Named the Healthiest in the U.S.

It beat out some fierce competition.

The small southern city of Falls Church, VA has been named the healthiest community in the United States for 2024 by US News & World Report. The city of about 14,500 people sits just outside of Washington DC, and offers a variety of enviable lifestyle amenities that helped it come out on top. 

According to the report, communities were ranked on 10 categoreis of health, including education, economy, community vitality, equity, food and nutrition, public safety, and more. The community that came out on top across the most areas, earning a total score of 

Falls Church performed best in the nation in education (No. 1), landed at No. 4 for population health, No. 6 for economy, No. 14 for food and nutrition, and No. 16 for infrastructure. The latter measurement included the highest walkability index score of any community measured in the report, and also boasted high marks in residents' proximity to amenities like parks, museums, and libraries.
