Sunrise on Tim Walz: Walz Is The Fighter Young People Need

In response to Kamala Harris announcing Gov. Tim Walz as her Vice Presidential running mate, Sunrise Movement Communications Director, Stevie O’Hanlon, released the following statement:

“Tim Walz is an excellent choice for Vice President. This decision shows that Kamala Harris is taking seriously what is needed to rebuild the 2020 Biden-Harris coalition and energize young people, people of color, and union voters ahead of November.

As Governor, Tim Walz has made huge strides to address the climate crisis. He has done this by pitching climate action as a way to make people’s everyday lives better, create good-paying green jobs, and invest in making communities stronger. That is a winning message, and one the Democratic ticket should put at the forefront of their agenda.

As Governor of Minnesota, Walz successfully passed legislation to transition Minnesota utilities to 100% carbon-free electricity by 2040 while creating more clean-energy jobs, established a climate change subcabinet within his administration, and adopted stricter emissions standards for vehicles.
