Topeka police say teen was killed in latest shooting

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Topeka Police Department (TPD) is releasing new information following reports of a 'suspicious death' on Monday.

The TPD said in a press release on Tuesday, Aug. 6 the deceased individual was a 15-year-old boy from Topeka. Police have yet to release the name of the shooting victim. The investigation into the death is ongoing.

Police were called around 3:15 p.m. on Aug. 5 to the 2400 block of SE Bellview Avenue on reports of a shooting. Officers arriving at the scene found one person suffering from a gunshot injury who was declared dead at the scene. Initially, police reported this death as being suspicious.
