State Police investigating human remains found in Knox

Troopers responded to the area and located human remains. Due to their location, at the bottom of steep terrain, the scene was secured and held overnight.

KNOX, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New York State Police are investigating human remains that were found in Knox near Villeneuve Drive on July 21 around 7: 48 p.m. An investigation began after a Schoharie County resident contacted state police.

Troopers responded to the area and located human remains. Due to their location, at the bottom of steep terrain, the scene was secured and held overnight.

On July 22, 2024, a complex retrieval was conducted. Police say remains have been tentatively identified, but the state police are still awaiting DNA analysis confirmation. Stick with NEWS10 as more information becomes available.
