Dell becoming 'leaner company' amid latest layoffs

The spokesperson didn't include how many people were let go as part of the reorganizational efforts.

ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) — Dell Technologies confirmed it is "becoming a leaner company" amid a recent round of layoffs.

A Dell spokesperson said the Round Rock-headquartered technology company is rearranging its go-to-market teams as part of the effort and combining teams through the layoffs. The spokesperson didn't include how many people were let go as part of the reorganizational efforts.

The Texas Workforce Commission said it hasn't received a Worker Adjustment & Retraining Notification Notice (WARN) from Dell, with the spokesperson adding updated lists are released on Wednesdays. The WARN Act requires businesses to notify TWC 60 days in advance of any plant closures or mass layoffs.

"We continually evolve our business so we’re set up to deliver the best innovation, value and service to our customers and partners," the Dell spokesperson said in an email to KXAN.

Dell's partner company Intel announced layoffs Aug. 1, reducing its workforce by 15% and slashing 15,000 employee roles. Those layoffs are poised to be completed by the end of 2024, per the announcement from Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger.

Government filings released earlier this year found Dell reduced its employee count by 13,000 globally in 2023, dropping from 133,000 global employees in February 2023 to 120,000 employees worldwide in February 2024.
