Four top composers will reveal secrets behind their projects when they join Gold Derby’s special “Meet the Experts” Q&A event with 2024 Emmy Awards nominees. They will participate in two video discussions to premiere on Monday, August 12, at 6:00 p.m. PT; 9:00 p.m. ET. We’ll have a one-on-one with our editor Rob Licuria and a roundtable chat with all of the group together.

The Crown

Synopsis: Follows the political rivalries and romances of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign and the events that shaped Britain for the second half of the 20th century.

Bio: Martin Phipps now has his eighth career Emmy nomination with previous ones for “Sense and Sensibility,” “Great Expectations,” “War and Peace” and “Victoria.”

Mr. and Mrs. Smith

Synopsis: Two strangers land jobs with a spy agency that offers them a life of espionage, wealth, and travel. The catch: new identities in an arranged marriage.

Bio: David Fleming now has his first two career Emmy nominations for “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” and “Jim Henson Idea Man.”

Only Murders in the Building

Synopsis: Three strangers – who live in the same New York City apartment building and share an obsession with true crime – suddenly find themselves embroiled in a murder.

Bio: Siddhartha Khosla now has his seventh career Emmy nomination with three for “Only Murders in the Building” and four for “This Is Us.”

The Tattooist of Auschwitz

Synopsis: This is the powerful real-life story of Lale Sokolov, a Jewish prisoner who was tasked with tattooing ID numbers on prisoners’ arms in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp during World War II.

Bio: Kara Talve has two Emmy nominations this year for dramatic score and original music and lyrics. She was previously nominated for “Prehistoric Planet.”
