We almost forgot there would be VMA nominations

Hey, the MTV Video Music Awards are still kicking? Good for them! The VMAs have faded in cultural relevance in the last several years, to the point where we almost forgot there would be a list of nominations coming out. But it’s been far too long since someone handed Taylor Swift a trophy (almost six months!), so it’s a good thing the VMAs are on the horizon, airing on September 10 at 8 p.m. EST.Swift unsurprisingly leads the nominations with a total of 10, followed by Post Malone with nine. Most of Post’s nods come from his collaboration with Swift, “Fortnight,” as well as his duet with Morgan Wallen, “I Had Some Help.” Sabrina Carpenter, Eminem, Ariana Grande, SZA, and Megan Thee Stallion all picked up a few nominations each, while stars of the summer Charli XCX, Chappell Roan, and Billie Eilish each have a modest two noms. Beyoncé, who continues to torment fans by not releasing any visuals for her latest albums, has just one nomination for Song of the Year for “Texas Hold ’Em.”Swift’s Eras Tour will be on a brief hiatus after her upcoming UK shows, so Swifties can expect she’ll likely show up to the VMAs, and expect that she’ll win some, if not all, of her categories. Whether she’ll pull another classic Swift move and announce the release of her re-recorded Reputation album on that occasion is a case for the stan detectives.
