‘She’s a trained dancer – it’s not fair’ says Strictly star Sarah Hadland’s very famous friend

STRICTLY star Sarah Hadland’s famous friend Alex Kingston once revealed that the star is a “trained dancer” amid fix claims.

Doctor Who actress Alex, 61, previously said it would be “unfair” to compete against Sarah on the BBC dance show due to her ballet experience.

Miranda star Sarah, 53, is best known as Stevie Sutton in beloved BBC sitcom, is set to compete against the likes of Love Island‘s Tasha Ghouri, who also has contemporary dance training.

Alex shared in 2019: “Sarah Hadland and I talked about how much we’d like to do Strictly Come Dancing.

“Then I discovered that she’s actually a trained ballet dancer.

“‘Hang on a minute! That’s not fair!’ So, I can’t do it on a season when she is on it!

“It’s also a massive commitment and, as an actor, you never know whether you’re going to be available for that time or whether it means cutting out the possibility of an acting job.”

It comes after reality star Tasha, who made history as the first deaf contestant on Love Island, was forced to defend her position on the show.

She said on Kiss FM this morning: “I’ve not danced for quite a few years, since Love Island my career is so different.

“It’s such a different dance style, I may actually not be good at it, like ballet – I’m not good at ballet.

“I’m trained in commercial street style it’s going to be very hard but I’m excited for a challenge.”

TV star Sarah has starred in countless other shows including The Job Lot, Waterloo Road and That Mitchell and Webb Look.

She has even appeared in 2008 James Bond film Quantum of Solace and will next appear in BBC Three comedy Daddy Issues.

If Miranda ever returns to screens, Sarah is sure to be there.

She previously told us: “I speak to the Miranda cast all the time.

“I feel lucky to have done a job that has given me a good friend for life.

“I’d love to do another series, but it’s up to Miranda because she writes the show. Never say never!”

The Sun on Sunday revealed Strictly bosses had signed up blind comedian Chris McCausland last month.

He will be joined by EastEnders Jamie Borthwick, DIY SOS star Nick Knowles, ex Towie’s Pete Wicks, Olympic GB swimmer Tom Dean.

Footie favourite Paul Merson, singer and movie star Toyah Wilcox, Team GB‘s hockey player Sam Quek, X Factor and Corrie legend Shayne Ward and JLS star GB Gill are taking to the dancefloor.

Welsh opera singer Wynne Evans is also in the line-up, along with TV doctor Punam Krishan, Gladiators star Montell Douglas and actress Sarah Hadland.
