NEW YORK (PIX11) – Tropical Storm Debby is slowly inching its way up north, with it expected to hit the Carolinas on Wednesday.

The storm already brought flooding from Florida to South Carolina, with some areas getting over a foot of rain. The price tag for the storm damage could reach into the billions.

But when is Tropical Storm Debby expected to hit New York City?

Remnants of the storm could hit the tri-state area as soon as Friday, according to PIX11 meteorologists.

Heavy storms have already hit New York City and the tri-state area Tuesday night into Wednesday, causing flooding and damage. Cars were left trapped on major roadways that flooded, trees fell onto vehicles, MTA buses flooded and a utility pole sparked in the Big Apple.

A ground stop was issued at LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy International and Newark Liberty International airports on Tuesday due to the storms. It was lifted early Wednesday, but at least 1,300 flights were canceled and another 970 were delayed overnight, according to officials.

The wet weather is expected to stay in New York City through Saturday.
