Witnesses said he did not resurface after falling from a boat that was going about 35 mph in Whiskey Slough.

A Santa Clara man was found dead in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta after reportedly falling or jumping from a moving boat.

Brandon Swanson, 53, was reported missing around 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said.

Witnesses said he had not resurfaced after falling from a boat that was going about 35 mph in Whiskey Slough, a popular area for recreational boating 12 miles northwest of Stockton.

The search continued until dark and then resumed the following morning. A body was recovered from the water around 3 p.m. Sunday; on Tuesday the medical examiner’s office confirmed it was Swanson’s.
