Running from August 7-11, the huge influx of festival-goers has resulted in massive queues on the roads.

As many as 50,000 people are expected to arrive, with headlines including Stormzy and Sam Fender.

The traffic delays have resulted in some people even missing their flight.

Melanie Gough wrote on Facebook, the Falmouth Packet reports: “For anyone flying from Newquay airport over the next few days, please allow loads and loads of extra time to get to the airport.

“We allowed over three hours to get from Truro for our flight to Manchester and didn’t even get close! Thank you Boardmasters.”

Someone else commented that it took them “three hours” to get from the village of Indian Queens to the airport, which should normally take 20 minutes.

Cornwall Airport has warned on the website: “Traffic is very heavy getting to/from the airport due to Boardmasters’ Traffic Management.

“The B3276 Watergate Road is closed and the A3059 through Carnanton is congested leaving the airport. Coming from Newquay the A3058 is blocked until green gate, then clear.

“From Trekkening roundabout, traffic is heavy.”

There is also no access to the airport via Watergate Road for most of the week, with passengers advised to take alternative routes.

Another local wrote on social media: “I live Trebarber and can’t leave because the traffic is complete standstill.”

Someone else commented: “Taken nearly 4 hours to drive from St Austell to Quintrell Downs.”

There are currently road closures in place until August 12 at 4pm, affecting roads near Watergate Bay, through Porth and Fistral Beach.

This is also likely to affect any families planning a road trip to the coastline this week.

And bus service Go Cornwall Bus also warned of diversions, saying they were “unable to serve Tregurrian, Watergate Bay & Porth”.

Cornwall Airport currently operates a number of domestic flights as well as European destinations.

Along with London Gatwick, Manchester and Newcastle, there are also flights to Alicante, Faro and Malaga.

The airport also welcomed it’s first flight to Guernsey with Aurigny last month.

Cornwall is also home to the the tiniest UK airport – which has just a few hundreds passengers a day.
