EastEnders fans furiously hit out at the soap over shock death – years after it happened

EASTENDERS fans rage that the BBC soap made their ‘biggest mistake’ killing off an iconic character – and they are still not over it.

EastEnders hunk Kush Kazemi (played by Davood Ghadami) met his grisly end after he was pushed on tube rail tracks by serial killer Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) in 2016.

Kush was on his way to start a new life with Whitney Dean (Shona Mcgarty) and son Arthur.

But then he was brutally killed off after Gray tried to stop them from leaving, as he had feelings for Whitney.

Kush’s death caused a major backlash against fans, and they are still not over it as many claim it was the soap’s “biggest mistake.”

Taking to a fan forum, one fan wrote: “I really feel Kush’s absence more than any other dead character from the same time period.

“I really believe the biggest mistake this show made in the last few years was killing off Kush.”

They added: “There is so much more that could have been done with him, but it has all just gone to waste as he was sacrificed to make the **** dreadful Gray Atkins a serial killer.

“And for what? Did Kush really deserve to die like that? He deserved a happy ending.”

Other fans flocked to the comment section in agreement, with one saying: “I agree it was a mistake. I liked his friendship with Martin as well.”

Another penned: “Same here, I feel like they haven’t really known what to do with Martin since Kush died. Martin just doesn’t really do much anymore at all, which sucks since I like him.”

Since his departure from the soap, Davood has played Doctor Eli Ebrahimi in Holby City and starred in an episode of Beyond Paradise.

The 42-year-old actor has recently secured a Hollywood role in an upcoming drama, as he joins the cast for a new Prime Video series House of David.

The religious drama is set to follow the story of biblical figure David, who became the King of Israel.

Davood has been cast as David’s oldest brother Eliab, who serves as a prestigious warrior in King Saul’s army.

The series is currently being filmed in Greece, and the airing date is yet to be confirmed.

Most complained about soap storylines

Over the years, all three of the main soaps have featured plots that have had even die-hard fans reaching for their phones and laptops so they can get in touch with Ofcom and complain. Here are just some of the most scandalous…

  • EastEnders baby theft: 13,400 Ofcom complaints – Back in 2011, EastEnders was flooded with complaints when Ronnie Branning (RIP) swapped her baby for the dead son of Kat Moon. The storyline drew the most number of objections in the soap’s long history and saw it roundly criticised by campaigners – with 13,400 flying in over the course of the storyline. Some viewers called it “distressing” and “horrific” but Ofcom ruled the scenes were not “unduly disturbing”.
  • Emmerdale dog-napping: 550 Ofcom complaints – Back in 2016, Ross Barton and Charity Dingle came up with a plan to steal a dog and hold it ransom – but viewers didn’t like it one bit. The nation’s pet owners rose up, insisting the storyline would encourage copycats (not to mention copydogs). Complaints over two episodes totalled a staggering 550 and soap writers quickly learnt you don’t mess with animal-lovers.
  • Coronation Street double murder: 546 Ofcom complaints – Marginally less people complained about a gruesome double murder than objected to a dog-napping plot when Pat Phelan was at the centre of a spate of killings. First he forced Andy Carver to shoot dead Vinny Ashford – and then Pat killed Andy. All the bloodshed back in 2017 proved to be too much for some viewers, who lodged complaints in vast numbers about the “violent scenes”.
  • Davood looks unrecognisable after growing out his bushy beard as he was spotted at Saronida Beach in Greece.

He appeared to be enjoying some time out in a tropical destination as he stripped off to just a pair of black swimming shorts, showing of his incredibly ripped physique.

A fitness fan, Davood regularly shows off his bulging muscles and enviable physique online with a slew of sweaty gym selfies and workout videos.

Davood partakes in CrossFit, a form of high intensity interval training with regular competitions, which helps him to get his impressive body.
