Walgreens closing one of its Schenectady stores
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Walgreens is closing one of its two locations in Schenectady. A Walgreens corporate spokesperson said the store in Sheridan Plaza at 1344 Gerling Street is closing on August 19.
"When faced with the difficult decision to close a location, several factors are taken into account, including our existing footprint of stores, dynamics of the local market, and changes in the buying habits of our patients and customers, among other reasons," said the spokesperson. "This location’s closure is due to unsustainable business performance."
Walgreens has another location about a mile away at 1203 Eastern Avenue in Schenectady. Other nearby locations are in Rotterdam, Colonie, and Guilderland.
