Bill O'Reilly signals Harris-Walz ticket more appealing than Biden

Former Fox News host Bill O'Reilly suggested Tuesday that Vice President Harris's presidential run with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) will appeal to more voters than President Biden would have if he remained in the race.

"Democrats made a fairly sophisticated political decision, because they knew that Biden was not going to be able to campaign. So obviously, it's a very big improvement on the campaign trail," O'Reilly said in a NewsNation interview. "And I think it's probably a bigger voter attraction than Biden would have been, but that's speculation."

"So what you have now is, you have some energy inside the Democratic Party," he added.

While Walz's addition has at least in the short term boosted Democrats' energy, O'Reilly argued most people do not actually understand the ticket they are supporting since Biden dropped out of the race.

"I don't think people understand what they're cheering for, by the way, but they're jazzed and it's the same old thing. The opposition, Trump, is the devil. So, 'No matter who we put up, it's better,' and that's where we are," he said.

According to an NPR/PBS News/Marist National poll released before Harris announced Walz as her running mate Tuesday, 71 percent of respondents said they did not know enough about the Minnesota governor to have an opinion on him. Of the remaining respondents, 17 percent had a favorable opinion, and 12 percent viewed him unfavorably.

O'Reilly argued the Harris-Walz ticket is likely the "most left-wing ticket in the history of this country."

"The most important point I want to make: You're not voting for either of those two people, you're voting for your vision of the country. So, if you want the country as it was under the four years of Trump, that's what you'll get. He's going to pretty much govern as a dealmaker," he said, adding later, "If you vote for the Democrats, you are voting for a fundamental change of the entire country. Everything will go left. You'll get DEI [diversity, equity and inclusion], you'll get 'woke.' Everything changes, traditional values evaporate."

The conservative commentator had earlier said that despite Trump's recent "unforced errors," he is still a better choice than Harris.

“Donald Trump is unpredictable. He won’t let go of grudges. He’s hurting himself,” O’Reilly told "On Balance with Leland Vittert" on Monday, adding, “[If] you’re going to vote for Kamala Harris, you’re going to feel pain like you’ve never felt before, and that’s my opinion.”
