AFTER purchasing a new home one person realized they were not alone.

The house was infested with creepy bugs, with some described as “scary.”

Redditor Row_the_boat_0115 recounted the horror in a comment on the social media platform.

They mentioned that when they first bought their house, it was fully infested with insects.

“Some were so unusual that I couldn’t even identify what they were,” they said.

“[They were] these mutant-looking crickets and very scary-looking, gigantic centipedes.”

CLEANING UP HOUSE

The new homeowner set out to get rid of the unwanted guests for good.

They caulked around the windows to seal any openings and added insulation to keep doors secure.

They also got rid of any leaves or other organic debris that were laying around the exterior of the home.

Next, they cut back on greenery, keeping bushes at least a few feet away from their new abode.

They also did the usual deep cleaning by scrubbing down the inside of the home.

“Just these small changes over time have helped with bugs dramatically,” they said.

They added that the house had been occupied before they moved in.

“I just think the previous owners weren’t bothered by the bugs, so no preventative work was done,” they said.

IDENTIFYING THE PROBLEM

Other Redditors worked together to help identify the creatures the homeowner saw.

“They give me the creeps,” the homeowner said. “Even my dog won’t attack them.”

Eventually, they learned that the creatures were “spider crickets.”

“That’s the ugly, mutant cricket,” they said of the critter. “I’m glad my description sufficed to explain what the f*** I was seeing.”

Spider crickets are also known as camel crickets, cave crickets, or sand treaders.

They’ve earned their nickname due to their arachnid-looking long legs.

Despite their appearance, they are completely harmless to humans.

Spider crickets are mainly scavengers that can jump long distances, according to the Missouri Department of Conservation.
