Furious Will Mellor reveals daughter is scared of going outside amid riots as he slams ‘horrible and hateful’ situation
ACTOR Will Mellor was left issuing a message to his fans as he shared an emotionally-charged video online amid the UK riots.
The star uploaded a clip where he addressed his daughter, Renee, being too scared to go outside amid the unrest.
Will’s children are of mixed-race heritage and he was left visibly saddened to hear his daughter’s fears.
The Coronation Street star appeared distressed as he admitted he had gone for a walk to “clear his head” after being left “sick” at the shameful riots taking place across the country.
Speaking to his followers, the star said: “I am sick of waking up to all this horrible, negative, hateful sh**e on social media – mostly from faceless accounts, that I am muting by the second.
“It is just horrible to read and see and on the news…
“You know, my daughter, came to me the other day and she was scared about going out because of everything that’s going on in the streets of England.”
Will shook his head in fury as he went on: “That’s wrong man.
“How can we not all see that all we are is people – that’s all we are.
“The actions of a few don’t represent the rest.
“There are bad eggs in every single culture and we need to sort that out but the only way we do that is by coming together.
“To put it simply, the majority of rapists are white males so does that mean all white males are rapists?”
He then finished the clip by saying: “Come on man, we can do better than this, it’s a joke.”
Will and his wife Michelle share two children after marrying one another in 1999.
His comments come as Britain faces a night of unrest amid planned riots up and down the country.
41 out of Britain’s 43 forces have been mobilised to intervene in what police expected to be a “busy” night – with 100 areas earmarked for far-right riots.
A total of 6,000 elite officers were braced and deployed to stop violence erupting in areas including London, Liverpool, Sheffield and Birmingham.
However, huge crowds of people chanting “refugees welcome” descended on areas earmarked for disorder.
Despite this, police are actively roaming around 100 areas and making arrests on those participating in the destructive behaviour.
Asylum centres, law offices and hotels for migrants are feared to be among the potential targets for far-right thugs.
Police will mount a guard at some locations identified on social media and are offering safety advice.
