Keira Knightley Reveals Daughter's Dyslexia Diagnosis, Says She Grew Up Dyslexic As Well

Keira Knightley recently let the public into her life by sharing that one of her daughters was diagnosed with dyslexia, which Keira also has.

The 39-year-old actress was on Ruthie’s Table 4 podcast on Monday (August 5) and shared the news of her daughter’s newfound dyslexia diagnosis.

“We have a dyslexic kid. Her memory is absolutely amazing,” Keira gushed about her daughter.

Keira’s husband, James Righton, joined her on the podcast. The two share two daughters together – nine-year-old Edie and four-year-old Delilah.

While dyslexia can be an unpredictable learning disability, it seems like Keira’s daughter is in good hands considering the actress shares the diagnosis. When Keira was six, she was diagnosed and after a while it became clear that she needed extra help.

The actress even goes as far as to claim that her struggles with dyslexia is what led to her success as an actor, “The school said, ‘Look, she can’t read at all and we need a carrot to dangle in front of her. Do you know if there’s something that she wants?’” It turns out there was absolutely something that the young Keira wanted, “And they said, ‘Well, she wants an agent.’ ”

Not only did Keira get what she wanted, but she got so much more! Once she got that highly sought after agent, Keira was completely and utterly determined to get good grades and do better in school.

She’s since starred in hit films like Pirates of the Caribbean and Pride & Prejudice. More than that though, she found her own family and is now able to pass on her knowledge (about both acting and dyslexia) to her children.
