A woman received five years deferred adjudication after she pleaded guilty for criminal negligent homicide in connection with a deadly crash in downtown Austin that happened in February 2022, according to Travis County court records.

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A woman received five years deferred adjudication after she pleaded guilty for criminal negligent homicide in connection with a deadly crash in downtown Austin that happened in February 2022, according to Travis County court records.

Court records identified the woman as Ashley White. As part of her deferred adjudication, she also has to take a driving safety course, maintain a valid driver's license and receive counseling, according to court records.

The crash happened after a vehicle ran a red light and collided with a CapMetro bus in downtown Austin at North Interstate 35 northbound service road and East 11th Street. A total of seven people were involved, including two children, according to the Austin Police Department. One of the children later died from their injuries, police said.

In addition to White's deferred adjudication supervision, she has to pay $455 for court costs and pay $60 a month for reimbursement fees, court records said.
