Hasz Named to 2024 Comeback Player of the Year Award Watch List

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Arkansas tight end Luke Hasz has been named to the 2024 Comeback Player of the Year Award Watch List. The College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), in association with The Associated Press (AP) and the Fiesta Bowl Organization, announced 90 college football student-athletes under consideration for the award today.

Since 2018, the award has recognized college football student-athletes for overcoming injury, illness, or other circumstances.  At the conclusion of each season, in a vote by a panel of college football writers, editors, and sports information directors, three college football student-athletes are honored as Comeback Player of the Year Award winners at the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl.

Hasz had a stellar freshman campaign before suffering an injury during the fifth game of the 2023 season. The Bixby, Okla., product was named to The Athletic’s Midseason Freshman All-America team after catching 16 passes for 253 yards and three touchdowns over five games. Against LSU (Sept. 23), he hauled in a career-best six catches for 116 yards and two touchdowns to earn John Mackey Tight End of the Week honors.

Of the 90 selections on the watch list, Hasz was one of 14 student-athletes from the SEC and one of 13 tight ends to be selected.

Previous winners of the Comeback Player of the Year Award include: 2023 – Blake Corum (Michigan); Jacob Dobbs (Holy Cross); Mike Hollins (Virginia); 2022 – Mohamed Ibrahim (Minnesota); Laiatu Latu (UCLA); Michael Penix Jr. (Washington); 2021 – Aidan Hutchinson (Michigan); McKenzie Milton (Florida State); J.J.
