Netflix actress opens up on health battle as she shares images of condition that means she ‘can barely make dinner’
A NETFLIX actress has opened up on her ‘excruciating’ health battle after she shared images of her shock condition.
Anthony Lexa played the role of Abbi Montgomery on the hit comedy-drama series, Sex Education.
Behind the scenes, the star has faced a huge problem when it comes to her health.
Anthony, 24, took to her social media, where she revealed that she has been suffering from an extreme bout of eczema.
She also revealed that this was due to topical steroid withdrawal (known as TSW).
According to the National Eczema Society, TSW is a ‘severe reaction’ that “can occur when moderate- or high-potency topical steroids are stopped after prolonged use, usually more than a year and usually to treat eczema, [with] symptoms worse than their original condition.”
Other symptoms can also include weakness and extreme fatigue, something Anthony spoke about in a recent post.
She posted a number of images on her Instagram grid page that showed peeling skin, various rashes, and the painful condition of her skin.
The star accompanied her images with a long essay in which she opened up about the debilitating effects and how she struggles to do even a small amount of work.
“Going through something,” she wrote along with a white heart emoji.
“I was really hoping that my #tsw journey wouldn’t have to impact my work.
“However, surviving on 3 hours sleep per night and suffering with chronic pain and withdrawal symptoms leave me with no choice.
“Being an independent artist, you have to make stuff happen. but when I can barely make dinner and clean my surroundings, it is hard to have the capacity for a busy work schedule, networking and content creation that is required to be a music artist in the 21st century.”
She added: “I just long to be free from pain. I long to sleep. I long to eat cake again and lay out in the sun covered in spf.”
The star is notable within the drama series for taking part in the show’s first sex scene involving trans characters.
All four series of Sex Education are available to watch on Netflix.
