PlayStation sells out of new pocket gadget which upgrades players’ gaming rigs just hours after release

PLAYSTATION is known for the quality of its products, with the PS5 being one of the most powerful consoles on the market.

While the PS5 is expensive, PlayStation has supported it with a number of accessories making it your one-stop-shop for all your gaming needs.

Late last year, the company launched the PlayStation Portal, a handheld device that allows you to stream games from your PS5 and it immediately sold out.

It was the must-have accessory for the PS5, and console owners were desperate to get their hands on one, with many resorting to setting up stock alerts on their phones.

The same can not be said for PlayStation’s other console accessory, the PS VR2, which saw disappointing sales before the company admitted that it had stopped production.

Sony has been making a big push for VR ever since the PS4, and PlayStation remains the only console brand to have VR headsets.

PC is by far the more popular platform for VR games, with a wider range of headsets available to suit different price ranges.

There is also a bigger selection of VR games available on PC, making it the obvious choice of platform for VR players.

PlayStation does have a small library of PS exclusive VR games, including the excellent Astro Bot Rescue Mission for the original PS VR headset, but this hasn’t been enough to tempt VR gamers to console.

This is why it was a smart business decision for PlayStation to develop a PC adapter for its latest PS VR2 headset, so that people could play PC games on it.

The PS VR2 launched at $549/£529, making it a mid-priced headset, however, shortly before the PC adapter went on sale, it saw a huge price drop of around $200/£200 to $349/£329.

At this price point, the PS VR2 became one of the more affordable headsets on the market.

With the new affordable price, even those without a PS5 started buying up the PlayStation headset in preparation for the PC adapter.

Hoping to play VR games on their PCs with the affordable PS VR2 headset, fans were left disappointed as the PC adapter sold out in hours.

The adapter costs $59/£49, but even with this additional cost, it remains one of the cheaper current-generation VR headsets.

It appears that the adapter will suffer a similar fate to the PlayStation Portal, and players will have to wait for stock to stabilise.
